On the night of her big win Sunday, Amy Schneider was in the news for other reasons. For one, she was a regular on the set of “The View,” a popular daytime talk show on Fox. For another, she was in a car accident in Tennessee and broke a bone in her leg.

That was followed quickly by reports that “Jeopardy!” contestant Amy Schneider had been hospitalized for dehydration and shock. Her winnings were suddenly down nearly $1.3 million. On Wednesday, more details emerged, which have left Amy and her family “haunted.”

“They had to give her a shot of electrolytes,” says Schneider, of Sacramento, Calif. “I didn’t even know she had broken a bone. I just got a text that said, ‘Amy is awake.’ She didn’t say anything about it. Now she’s broken a bone in her leg. What kind of joke is that to me,” she says.

“I didn’t know for sure she broke her leg until now,” adds Schneider’s mother, Sherry. “I know she needed it. Now she’s been admitted to hospital, and they’ve told us she’s broken two bones in her leg. She’s in a lot of pain. They have to give her pain medication.”
