An arrest warrant had been issued for her arrest in 2015 which she was later able to bypass thanks to family connections. Even though the warrant was issued for her, her mother’s alleged corruption is still being investigated.
On Friday, dos Santos is scheduled to appear before a judge in Tokyo. She is likely to be released on Monday, but we expect international media attention to follow soon.
