The actress says she is “99% sure” she’ll return for the upcoming seventh and final season of the hit CBS medical drama after getting her fill of playing wife to fellow star and husband David Eigenberg.
“I’m not sure,” she said when asked of her plan moving forward from her time playing Dr. Ellen Grey. “I’m kind of over the hump. We filmed the last two episodes of this final season, and I will be back next year, and so I am feeling great about that. I’ll definitely be back.”
Pompeo did note she hopes to keep her love for her character alive, given her current position in the show.
“I’ll do my research,” she said.
Pompeo has also been on-set with the cast of NBC’s long-running comedy series, “The Office.” She’s been featured in the recurring role of Megan, her character’s younger sister and employee of the corporation’s human resources department.
In a recent interview with SiriusXM Patriot’s “Body Issue” podcast, Pompeo said she’ll have to see where her career goes now that her tenure as Grey is over.
“I’ll be sad to see the show die,” she said. “I loved ‘Grey’s Anatomy.’ I’ll definitely be here for ‘The Office.’ And I’ll definitely be back.”
CBS has also announced Pompeo will reprise her role of Dr. Megan Hunt for its upcoming seventh season of “Grey’s Anatomy.” Pompeo said she’s excited to be returning for the upcoming season.
“I know what it feels like to be on ‘Grey’s,’ and I know what it feels like to not feel like I’m on ‘Grey’s,'” Pompeo said. “I’ve got a really good relationship with Kate Walsh and with Sandra Oh, and I will miss them terribly…. I also had a really good relationship with David Eigenberg – it will be a huge loss to the show.”
