Scotiabank Arena to host mass COVID-19 vaccination clinic for young kids Dec. 12-13
TORONTO, ONTARIO–Scotiabank Arena will be the largest in the world to host a mass vaccination clinic for children under the age of 12 at the end of this month.
The clinic, set to take place between Saturday, Dec. 12 and Sunday, Dec. 13, will see all children in the Canadian-wide community receive their first dose of a pre-approved COVID-19 vaccine (GMP) when they attend the clinic.
To register for the clinic, children under 12 need to complete a registration app using Facebook, email or messaging app.
The application requires consent from caregivers for their children to participate.

Young children will be eligible to receive their first dose of this new vaccine, with plans to provide the first doses of the vaccine to at least 100 children in the coming weeks and months.
The first of these, as of the first week of its availability, will be the recommended dose of the vaccine — a single-dose of the vaccine, referred to as the first dose.
Young children will also receive other doses, which can be given at any time.
Dr. Nancy Anand, the clinic’s medical director, said the goal of the clinic is to provide “the first dose of the vaccine to as many children as possible.” The vaccine is known as the single dose, with the second dose and the third and following doses being additional doses.
A single-dose is intended to be used “at a time when it’s critical for the person’s immune system to mount a response.”
The vaccine will only be available for the single dose — the first dose — and it will be available from the clinic for a small fee (for most Canadians, $125) and for one year at a time.
“Once we see it has been effective at achieving the goal of getting the vaccine to as many people as possible,” Dr. Anand said, “we will make a decision about expanding the availability
