Shooting on northbound 405 Freeway in Van Nuys leaves one person hospitalized and one critically injured, police say.
A man and a woman were in a car and heard a loud bang at about 5:25 a.m. near the West 405 and San Fernando Road, Van Nuys police said.
The man drove his red Ford Focus to check on the woman. When he arrived he learned that she had been shot in the torso, police said.
They found the victim, who was rushed to UCLA Medical Center in critical condition, police said.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers located a bullet from a small-bore firearm inside the car, police said.
